Berghahn Online offers a high-performing platform with the following innovative features and services in addition to those already offered to Institutional Users:

Where do I access new journal content?
All content published by Berghahn Journals is available on www.berghahnjournals.com.

Does Berghahn participate in the major search and discovery services?
Yes, content published in Berghahn Journals is indexed by Scopus, Web of Science, ERIH, Ebsco, JSTOR, ProQuest, Cengage, and relevant discipline-specific abstracting and indexing services. Discovery services will be updated with content URLs.

In what formats is journal content available online?
Subscribers may access PDF journal content on our new online platform.

I set up direct links to journal content on IngentaConnect. Will these links continue to work?
Unfortunately, IngentaConnect will not redirect to the new site. Please bookmark journal pages on the new online platform to ensure easy access to the most complete journal content.

What digital preservation arrangements have been made to ensure published content is available in perpetuity
Berghahn Journals will continue its participation in trusted third-party archive programs (CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and Portico).

What does this mean for my current Berghahn Journals subscription, formerly on IngentaConnect?
Your current subscriptions with Berghahn Journals will now be accessed on our new platform.

How do I renew or place an order for the 2017 subscription year?
Subscriptions to our journal will continue to be handled by Turpin Distribution.

Use your administrative account through Turpin to check that your institution's contact details and IP addresses are up to date.

  • Set up an administrative account on our new platform's Access Management System when one or more contacts from your institution receives an administrative account setup email containing unique login information tied to your institution. If you have not yet been provided these credentials, please contact info@berghahnjournals.com.
  • Update your OpenURL information through the Access Management System.

What do I need to do on the Berghahn Online site?
Librarians will gain administrative access to the Access Management System, though which they can download COUNTER reports. If you have not yet been provided the details for creating and logging into this account, please contact info@berghahnjournals.com.

How does this affect my full-run subscription to a Berghahn Journal?
Current institutional subscribers will retain access to all volumes of their respective journals for the duration of the subscription term, but access will transition to our new platform.

Is post-cancellation access still available?
Yes, Berghahn Journals provides post-cancellation access for institutional subscribers to issues of the journal published during the term of the subscription. Post-cancellation content previously hosted on IngentaConnect will now be hosted on the new online platform subject to the same fee. You may always elect to access post-cancellation content through any of our archival partners.

Have subscription rates changed?
Subscriptions rates will only change as a result of annual rate adjustments and not because of the platform transition.

My institution subscribes to journals via a subscription agent. Do I need to notify my agent about the transition?
Berghahn Journals has contacted subscription agents to alert them to the platform transition. However, you are encouraged to mention the move while corresponding with your agent. If your agent has questions, they should contact info@berghahnjournals.com.

FAQ: Individuals & Contributors
 

How does this affect my subscription to journals published by Berghahn Journals?
All current subscriptions are valid on the new platform for as long as your subscription remains active. Subscribers continue to have access back to the first issue of the journals to which they subscribe, now on our new online platform. Subscription formats have not been affected.

How do I access the journals to which I subscribe?
All content published the Berghahn Journals will be available on our new online platform. Details for accessing content with your login credentials will be available soon. Please contact Berghahn with any questions in the meantime: info@berghahnjournals.com.

How will I renew my subscription?
The renewal process for individual subscribers has not changed, and subscriptions will continue to be handled by Turpin Distribution.

I access a journal through my institution's subscription. Has this access changed?
All current subscriptions are valid on the new platform for as long as a subscription remains active. Institutional subscription administrators have been notified about the platform transition. Please bookmark the journal's new home page for ease of access, the link for which will be provided soon.

My institution subscribed to a journal because I was a contributor. Is that subscription still valid?
Yes, all current subscriptions are valid on the new platform for as long as a subscription remains active. If a title is important to your scholarship, you may wish to contact your librarian again, either through your institution or by submitting a Library Recommendation Form.

FAQ: Society members
 

I receive a journal subscription as a part of my society membership. How is this affected by the transition?
All current society membership subscriptions remain valid on the new platform for as long as your membership remains active. Your digital access is affected in one of two ways:

  1. I accessed my journal(s) by logging into IngentaConnect: You will now log into the new online platform using your Berghahn Journals credentials, which will be available soon.
  2. I accessed my journal(s) by logging in through my society website: Your method for accessing journal content has not changed.
