Terry Gifford is the author of seven collections of poetry, most recently, with Christopher North, Al Otro Lado del Aguilar (2011). Also author of Green Voices: Understanding Contemporary Nature Poetry (2011), Ted Hughes (2009) and Pastoral (1999), Terry Gifford is Visiting Scholar at the Research Centre for Environmental Humanities, Bath Spa University, UK, and Senior Research Fellow and Profesor Honorifico at the University of Alicante, Spain.

Anna Stenning is an independent researcher. She has recently compiled an anthology of Edward Thomas’s prose and poetry, which will be published during the centenary of Thomas’s death at the battle of Arras in 1917. Her Ph.D. thesis considered the literary development of Thomas and Robert Frost between 1912 and 1917. Her other research interests include nature writing and ‘walking art’. She lives in Ledbury, Herefordshire, where she teaches and writes on these subjects.

David Arnold is Senior Lecturer at the University of Worcester, where he teaches courses on American Writing, Environmental Writing and Literary Criticism. His research interests are in the relationship between spiritual and writing practices.

Pippa Marland is Lecturer in English Literature at the University of Worcester. She is currently preparing a monograph on selected island-based writings of the British and Irish archipelago and is co-editor of the forthcoming Routledge collection Walking, Landscape and Environment. She has written academic articles on ecocriticism, new nature writing and ecopoetry, as well as creative non-fiction, songs and poetry.

A.D. Harvey was educated at St John’s College Oxford and University (now Wolfson) College Cambridge. His books include Collision of Empires: Britain in Three World Wars 1793–1945 (1992), A Muse of Fire: Literature, Art and War (1998) and Body Politic: Political Metaphor and Political Violence (2007), as well as three novels. His work has also appeared in Philological Quarterly, Critical Quarterly, Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institutes, Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute and the poetry magazine Acumen.

Christopher North’s first collection, A Mesh of Wires, published by Smith Doorstop, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize in 1999. He has published two collections since – Explaining the Circumstances (2010) and The Night Surveyor (2014) – and a joint, bilingual collection A Otro Lado del Aguilar (2011) with Terry Gifford (all with Oversteps Books). His most recent pamphlet collection is Wolves Recently Sighted (Templar Poetry, 2014). Since 2002, with his wife Marisa, he has facilitated poetry writing retreats and courses at Almassera Vella in Relleu, Alicante, Spain (www.oldolivepress.com).

Michael Conley is a 32-year-old poet from Manchester. His work has appeared in Magma, Rialto, New Welsh Review and Bare Fiction. His first pamphlet, Aquarium, was published by Flarestack in 2014 and his second, More Weight, came out with Eyewear in 2016. His poem ‘These Three Young Ladies’ was Highly Commended in the 2015 Forward Prize.

Mohammad Shafiqul Islam is the author of three books: Wings of Winds (Poetry, 2015), Humayun Ahmed: Selected Short Stories (Translation, 2016) and Aphorisms of Humayun Azad (Translation, 2017). In February 2017 he was a poet-in-residence at the Anuvad Arts Festival, India and his poetry, translation and literary essays have appeared or are forthcoming in Journal of Postcolonial Writing, SNReview, Reckoning, Right Hand Pointing, SLR, Cerebration, Arts & Letters, Bengal Lights, The Subterranean and Chaos, among others. He is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of English, Assam University, India and teaches English at Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Kate Wise has been published in three Emma Press anthologies, and journals including the Rialto, Structo, Poems in Which, and Haverthorn. Her poem about urinal blocks was a Members’ Poems winner in the summer issue of Poetry News. She grew up in Cheshire, lives in London, and tweets at @kwise62.
