Alfred Betschart studied what later became known as PPP (political economy, political science, and philosophy) at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) from 1974-82. After a successful career in business, he returned to philosophy in the early 2000s. His main interests are the early influences on Sartre's thought and the worldwide reception of Sartrean existentialism, as well as Sartre's rapport with politics. He has organised various academic conferences and co-edited several books on these topics. He maintains the website www.sartre.ch.
